BetterCast is a free, open-source application that turns any device into a second display. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data BetterCast collects — which is essentially none.
BetterCast does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. The app operates entirely over your local network (Wi-Fi or USB-C) and communicates only between your host computer and your receiver device. No data is sent to any external server.
BetterCast does not include any analytics, crash reporting, advertising SDKs, or tracking of any kind. We do not use cookies, fingerprinting, or any other identification mechanism.
BetterCast uses your local network solely to stream display content from a host computer to a receiver device. This communication stays within your local network and is never routed through external servers. The app requires local network permission to discover and connect to devices on your network.
BetterCast does not integrate with any third-party services that collect user data. The app is entirely self-contained.
BetterCast is open source under the GPL 3.0 license. You can review the full source code on GitHub to verify these claims.
Because BetterCast does not collect any data, there are no special concerns regarding children's privacy. The app is safe for users of all ages.
If we ever update this privacy policy, the changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Given that BetterCast collects no data, significant changes are unlikely.
If you have any questions about this privacy policy, please open an issue on our GitHub repository.
